Does GrimSlate support Warhammer 40k 11th Edition?
Yes! GrimSlate fully supports 11th Edition, including Detachment Points, every detachment with its enhancements and stratagems, and the latest Munitorum Field Manual points. Lists saved in 10th Edition are converted automatically when opened.
Is GrimSlate free to use?
Yes! GrimSlate is completely free to use with no hidden costs or paywalls. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the core army building functionality will always remain free and accessible to everyone.
Where does the data come from?
Unit datasheets come from the community-maintained BSData project (github.com/BSData), complemented by Wahapedia and hand-transcribed faction packs. Points come from the official Munitorum Field Manual, and core rules are anchored to Games Workshop's published PDFs. Every update runs through an automated checker before it ships.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required to build lists — they are saved locally in your browser. A free account unlocks cloud sync across devices, the live Battle Tracker and your battle record, favorite units (up to 50), public list sharing with unique URLs, and the community side: a public profile, follows, likes and comments. You can keep up to 10 army lists at a time; archived lists don't count toward the limit.
Do I need an internet connection?
GrimSlate works entirely offline once loaded. It's a Progressive Web App (PWA) that you can install on your device. Perfect for gaming stores or tournaments with spotty WiFi - just load it once and you're good to go!
