Terms and conditions for using GrimSlate.

You Can

  • Use the app for free (core features)
  • Build unlimited army lists
  • Export and share your lists
  • Use for personal or tournament play

You Cannot

  • Claim ownership of the app or data
  • Redistribute the app commercially
  • Attempt to harm the service
  • Misrepresent affiliation with us

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using GrimSlate ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GrimSlate.

2. Description of Service

GrimSlate is a web-based army list builder for Warhammer 40,000. The Service allows users to:

  • Browse faction datasheets, unit profiles, and game rules
  • Create and manage army lists with wargear configurations
  • Export lists in various formats (text, PDF)
  • Use the combat calculator for probability analysis
  • Access the Service from web browsers and mobile devices

3. User Accounts

The Service may be used without creating an account. However, certain features (such as cloud sync) require account registration. If you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

4. Service Fees & Premium Features

Core features are free. Army list building, datasheets, and basic functionality will always be available at no cost.

We may offer optional premium features or subscriptions in the future. If we do:

  • Pricing will be clearly displayed before purchase
  • Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time
  • Refund policies will be stated at time of purchase
  • Premium features are optional and not required for core functionality

5. User Conduct

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with GrimSlate

6. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The GrimSlate application, including its design, code, user interface, and original content, is the property of its creators and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Third-Party Content

Game data used in the Service is sourced from the BSData community project. Warhammer 40,000 and related marks are trademarks of Games Workshop Ltd. See our Disclaimer for full attribution.

Your Content

You retain ownership of any army lists and content you create. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit your content as necessary to provide the Service functionality.

7. Disclaimers

Service Provided "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
  • Data Accuracy: While we strive to maintain accurate game data, we make no guarantees about the accuracy of rules or statistics. Always refer to official Games Workshop publications.
  • Service Availability: We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GRIMSLATE AND ITS CREATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Loss of data or army lists
  • Inaccurate game rules or statistics
  • Inability to access the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in content
  • Any unauthorized access to your account

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GrimSlate and its creators from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting with an updated revision date. For material changes, we will provide notice via email to registered users. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and applicable member state laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of the jurisdiction where the service operator is established.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.
