How Emperor's Children play
Emperor's Children are the speed-and-precision Chaos legion. Where World Eaters charge blindly and Death Guard grind forward, Emperor's Children strike first — their rules centre on acting before the enemy can, on excess and on punishing opponents for their own aggression.
The army plays fast and fragile. It is built to win the exchange by getting there first rather than by surviving the counterattack, which means initiative and sequencing matter more here than in the other Chaos legions.
It is the newest of the god-specific legions and has a narrower roster than Chaos Space Marines, which makes the list-building decisions sharper.
Building a Emperor's Children army list
Speed and first-strike capability are what you are buying. Units that are merely durable are working against the army's identity.
The Counteroffensive Core stratagem is expensive at 2 CP but it is exactly the tool this army wants in reserve — budget for it.
If you are new to Emperor's Children: Play for the first strike rather than the safe move. An Emperor's Children unit that waits a turn to charge safely usually gets shot instead.
